The hidden cost of poor visibility on a construction site
A drill cannot be found. Equipment was transferred to another site without everyone being told. A foreperson calls the warehouse to check a quantity. An employee goes back to the truck because no one knows what was delivered.
Each event may look small. Repeated every week across several employees, they become a real operating expense.
Thirteen hours spent looking for data
In its 2025 construction study, Autodesk reports that surveyed professionals spend an average of 13 hours each week looking for the data required for their role. Digital leaders spend about two hours less on the same task, leaving roughly 5% more time for higher-value work.
An earlier FMI and PlanGrid study estimated that construction professionals spent more than 14 hours a week on non-optimal activities such as finding information, resolving conflicts, and managing errors or rework.
The questions teams need answered
Teams need to know how much material they really have, which site has a piece of equipment, whether it is available or already in use, who moved it, and what should return to the warehouse. When those answers depend on spreadsheets, paper, messages, or one person's memory, the issue is often not missing information but missing shared access at the right moment.
The visible cost of a lost tool is replacement. The larger cost can include search time, interrupted work, unnecessary travel, a temporary rental, duplicate purchasing, or another team waiting for equipment.
One shared operational record
PROVINTOR is designed to track inventory, equipment, locations, projects, and movements in one platform. Mobile scanning, locations, projects, and movement history reduce reliance on parallel lists and informal updates.
This is not a promise of an automatic gain or a replacement for field expertise. It is a way to make operational information available when a decision is needed: less time searching, more time executing.
