Inaccurate inventory: the hidden cost to warehouse productivity
Your system says there are 14 units. The shelf has 11. Two are reserved. Someone moved another one without recording it. How many are truly available?
Accuracy becomes an operating issue
In its global warehousing study, Zebra surveyed more than 1,400 warehouse and distribution decision-makers and associates. Nearly 80% considered inventory inaccuracy and stockouts an important productivity challenge. In addition, 82% of associates and 76% of decision-makers said they needed better inventory tools to improve accuracy and understand availability.
A quantity mismatch can lead to an incomplete pick, an urgent purchase, an unexpected stockout, unnecessary travel, excess stock in another location, or time spent recounting. When a warehouse also manages reservations, total quantity is not enough.
Separate stock from availability
Teams need to distinguish what is in stock, available, reserved, moving, and assigned to an operation. Shared, accessible information does not automatically solve every error, but it reduces the occasions when several versions of reality coexist.
One view for stock and movements
PROVINTOR structures items by location, tracks movements, and connects stock to the operations that need it. When a reservation or movement is recorded, that information stays in the same working environment.
The goal is simple: fewer assumptions, fewer manual checks, and a clearer understanding of what is actually available. Accurate inventory supports the entire operation, not only the stock department.
